So my JNMIL had been on best behavior lately, coming to visit once or twice a week, which is quite a lot but we also travel and are not home some weeks sometimes so it’s fine. I don’t really trust her alone with LO so I’m either with them or doing something in the room. The visits have been fine, she usually leaves when it’s time for LO to nap because he’s all she cares about.
So she was here last week and we thought everything was fine (my partner was also home). Until she sends a message to my partner later that day, about something else, but then adds “I could tell OP wanted me to leave, she was saying so loud it’s already 3 PM, it’s like a prison, with fixed times 13 to 15”. He was fuming and told her he doesn’t need her in his life. I was surprised, I did check the time to see if it was time to put LO down for the nap, honestly yes I wanted her to leave but I fake it like she fakes it. I am civil to her, more than her own son even. So whyyyyy is she like this??? What’s the endgame other than pissing us off?
It just makes me sad for my partner, he was really upset. Honestly I would have laughed it off, she loves playing victim and I think he just gave her what she wanted (drama and attention). On the other hand, he comes every couple of months with plans to build a unit for her on our property. So this blowouts are in my favor. I just hope he wouldn’t fall for her games so easily! Can I help him see this clearly?
