I am sorry this is just a general low quality vent, but feel free to join in. I observed that men in my admittedly small circle all have opinions on how women should dress.
My stbx is among them so of course I’m a little fired up about it, but women dressing sexy or in athleisure or whatever the heck really irritates him. My first husband was a tiny bit better but didn’t respect women who wore a lot of jewelry or makeup… and of course being fat was unforgivable.
Zooming out a bit and obviously religious doctrine typically includes controlling women’s clothing.
Having mostly worked among women and kept company with women we didn’t really care how men dressed unless it’s a hygiene thing and it’s not like we would see a man as morally bankrupt if his shirt was tight… like why do they care so much?

So it can be our fault and not theirs.
Patriarchy teaches men to view women as objects. They care about how these objects are decorated and what it means. How does that outfit tell a story about the woman who is being viewed? Is she chaste, moral, available, shallow etc? This is the male gaze.
