Why can’t I enjoy anything Like I used to?

r/

I’m 21M. I used to enjoy watching movies or playing games or music like a lot. But now everytime I’m playing a game I don’t feel anything. Its like Empty. Its been over a year and this feeling is still not going. I don’t crave for these games & movies like I used to.

I tried thinking why this emptiness is not going away. Last year I had a huge academic drop. So this could be the reason.
(I’m doing better competitively though.)

After the academic drop I got addicted into weird porn kinks. So, maybe watching a bit too much porn caused this?

Right now, I’m trying to hangout with my friends as much as I can but they are in different universities and I just got into a new University and its kinda hard for me to make new friends.

Depression doesn’t feel like sadness for many. It feels like nothing.

You sound like my mate before he got diagnosed with depression. He used to be really into a few different hobbies and they just stopped doing it for him. Everything felt hollow and empty. Go chat to a doctor.

I dont think its about porn, its something else that directed you to porn.

First, Im glad you are again doing good with your lessons. I have an MSc degree, and it really helps a lot. But you also better to have other interestings such as hobvbies. Crime movies, heavy metal, fantasy literature… they help a lot, also while socializing.

On the other hand, you may take care of your sleeping and eating routines, they are important. During depressive times staying away from caffeine, tobacco, alcohol is better.

Also, you sound like a good boy, that govs and socities puts lots of pressure on you. Be easy with yourself, you are someone nice for sure.

That sounds like depression. I would try finding a new hobby or joining a club. Sometimes it can be easier to make friends if you are going to a club, as the people attending will have similar interests.
