Why does it feel like the ones who try to walk straight paths in a crooked world get the hardest journey? Why is honesty mistaken for weakness, and effort overlooked while manipulation is rewarded?
I know I’m not alone in feeling this. I’ve seen it happen to others too – quiet, sincere people who keep their heads down, do what’s right, and still get sidelined or taken advantage of.
Sometimes I write to cope. This came out of one of those moments:
In silence I watched the masks they wore,
Smiles draped in gold, hearts hollow at core.
Scams dressed as success, lies sold as fame,
Yet truth walks barefoot, without a name.
I spoke once—too loud, too clear—
Branded nosy, made to disappear.
Now I speak to none, just write and breathe,
Learning peace in the ache beneath.
Let them chase their glittering night,
I’ll build my world in honest light.
Some wars aren’t worth the sound or scream,
Some victories lie in a quiet dream.
I’m not trying to be dramatic. Just wanted to speak what’s been sitting on my chest.
If you’ve ever felt this way, I see you.
Better to earn less with honesty, and live without fear

Because it is the life they chose. Why should the person who willingly handicaps themselves get more than they put in?
Cause life is an opp
In my experience, a lot of what we put into the world and a lot of how we treat others can come back to us. There will be exceptions, but I honestly think society values a stand up individual more than it even realizes. Deep down society values a good person, and people will be more likely to aid that person when necessary.
Watch a nature documentary and you’ll have all the answers you seek. Beautiful writing by btw.
Yeah it’s a sad thing to see. I also hate when people who scam or commit crime are praised. Like look at the tinder swindler. He did something very nasty and it seems like all he got was praise and positive affirmations. Or full blown gang leaders are praised for conducting criminal enterprises even though they are probably terrible selfish people deep down. Just how society works I guess.
