Why do I hate nice weather so much?

r/

At this point, it’s a real concern that I’m a broken type of human being.

Every year I dread summer. I genuinely wake up and look outside to see if the sun is out. If the sun is out my day is ruined. I want it to be snowing or raining all the time & I don’t get it.

I live in the Midwest (specifically Indiana so we have corn sweats) and the summers here are miserable due to the humidity. Yet everyone around me greets summer every single year with such happiness not realizing how actually terrible summer is?

The only thing I like about summer is that I’m able to get in a body of water. That’s basically it, nothing else. I love the winter, it makes me happy to go outside and it’s freezing and there’s snow on the ground. I love being snowed in & watching the snow. It’s so pretty. Plus there’s nothing better than a thunderstorm or just a rainy day.

No, I don’t have a vitamin D deficiency. I take vitamins daily, I regularly go to therapy, and I take medications. I also just got tested and my levels are normal as I have a therapy light to replace the sun rays I don’t want to get.

I also wonder why people love the sunny weather so much they ignore all the bad things about it? Sun burn, bug bites, sweating, the damage that it does to your aging process, barely any cute/comfy clothing, and there’s so many more people out.

Am I the only one that feels this way? I feel like something is broken in my human circuit board or something.

I do too. It just bothers me how everyone thinks like o now it’s time to be happy and have fun. Shit I love the fall. Cool gloomy weather. Hoodys. Fires and Bears. Lets go

Everyone’s different I don’t think it means you’re broken in anyway. I have ADHD and i find sunny days to be over stimulating, along with the heat and humidity, the animal sounds; it’s a lot. I like a mix of weather and love rainy days because they’re calm.

I understand your aversion to summer’s sweltering heat and humidity perfectly. It’s not about being “broken,” rather a matter of personal physiology and environmental adaptation. I’d venture that our unique biochemical makeup influences our preferences, with some individuals naturally gravitating towards cooler or warmer climates for optimal serotonin levels

Embracing winter wonderlands and cozy rainy days might simply be your body’s way of maintaining its natural rhythms and overall well-being. So don’t fret about being abnormal, just revel in the beauty of whatever weather lifts your spirits

Nothing I hate more than it being too hot to go to sleep, plus in the UK our houses are built to retain heat and air con is almost non existent

I used to love wet, cold weather until I lived with two massive double coated dogs that ruin the house after going outside. I love hot weather when I’m by a body of water. Otherwise, spring and fall are my favs.

I do t think that because you don’t like summer is a problem but just how much you hate summer may be the issue.

I hate summer too, always have. I’m a redhead and the sun is my (literal) mortal enemy. I’ve learned to embrace summer by seeing it as cycling season. I’ll get out and ride all day long, regardless of the heat. Having a summer hobby to look forward to has changed my entire mindset toward summer.

Seasonal depression or SAD can present in summer as well as winter. Might be worth looking into. Most people assume it’s just a winter thing but it certainly isn’t. Not saying you have it of course but might be good to explore it.

Maybe bad weather reflects your mood, and it irritates you to see others enjoying themselves when you can’t.

Nothing better than waking up to a heavy rain storm on a day you have nothing planned. Nice and dark, get all cozy and lazy.

I’m in Florida and also hate the summer. I think people like us just need to live somewhere where it doesn’t get ridiculously hot, which seems to be farther and farther North every year.
