Why do some guests wear white to weddings? Are they self- centered or?

Unless the bride states that she wants the guests to wear white, why do some people, specifically women wear white to a wedding?

Is the person that does that just self- centered and can’t let anybody have nice things?

Is it because we associate colors with certain things (black attire for funerals or elegance in other contexts, white with weddings or elegance, red or pink hearts for Valentine’s Day , green with saint patrick, pink or blue with gender reveals, orange and brown with the fall season and thanksgiving. This is an American perspective, I know other colors have other meanings in different cultures, but unfortunately I don’t know.

Or is it because being told you can’t do something just makes you want to push the boundaries more like not wearing white to a wedding so now you have to find sneaky ways to see.

There is a subreddit for checking if the dress the person is going to wear as a guest a wedding appropriate and sometimes I notice that the dress has white or is too light and resembles the color white (light beige or something). Often times, when the people are asking in this subreddit or anywhere online, I don’t think the person is being malicious. But why push the boundary by wearing something that has light colors?

Anyway, please don’t come for me, we all have free will and can do whatever we want, but sometimes I wonder why some people are in competition with the bride (consciously or subconsciously).
