I see this online all the time. Someone shares something weird or niche, and people instantly go ‘ugh, so cringe’ or ‘that’s fake’ what is it so hard to just say ‘I dont get it’ or ‘this isn’t for me’ ?
It’s a lot easier to tear something/one down than admit you don’t understand. It requires self awareness and vulnerability and that’s too much for some.
I don’t use those words to describe things I don’t understand. I use dark humor and snarky comments. Some might find that cringe though, since many people take jokes seriously, even though it’s fake.

Some people aren’t comfortable admitting they don’t know something.
If people really don’t get it, they may think it’s fake because they don’t understand how it couldn’t be.
Because MAGA doesn’t want to look dumb. But every one can see it.
