Because I’ve always enjoyed debating and bouncing around ideas on message boards for as long as i can remember … and Reddit is, by far, the king of all message boards.
Because in terms of racist incels. They tend to gravitate more to 4chan.
If I wanted see someone go on a rant about white supremacy and killing jews thats where id go. Or how many 2 liters of cum they’ve filled up over the last year.
Theres significantly less here. That is why I choose reddit.
Some things are fun to look at and peruse….Other things I have learned I need to just mute the sub for.
I haven’t been on Reddit terribly long.
In my short time out here, however I personally feel 80% of the posts about relationship advice or AITAH are BS lol. Just my personal opinion.
Example: “ my boyfriend is also dating my sister am I overreacting”. Seriously.
Some days I think about deleting the app altogether because of how people are , how adversarial they become at a simple statement or a question.
Gaming communities, btw mods on r/Seaofthieves are terrible
Edit: it’s because they don’t exactly punish by their rules, they ban and remove posts whenever they feel like it while leaving posts that violate the rules up
Mostly to pass time. I like reading people’s stories in bed just before I fall asleep and occasionally I get answers to very random and yet specific questions. If I’m on my phone, 90% of the time I’m on Reddit. I actually prefer to be on here than to be on instagram or facebook
I kept being drawn in by clickbait listicle articles and realised the sources were all just old Ask threads. Thought I might as well join and read the up to date ones, as well as share my own experiences. I personally think I’m hilarious and knowledgeable, turns out 70k+ people here have somewhat agreed with me so far.
To get away from toxic trolls or ragebait on Facebook
Anonymity allows for less judgment
It’s a forum, so ideas can be better and more constructively discussed here rather than nothing but pure idiocy or rage or whatever other bull there is on FB and a few other social media sites.
It’s amazing how much information there is on Reddit. And some of it is actually correct.
I’ve actually turned to Reddit to fact check a news story, as there are people on here who do the deep dives that I don’t have the time (or patience) for. And some of the comment sections go off on tangents that are fascinating just by themselves.

I can have conversations here that I rarely ever have in the community I live in.
I have no friends
Mainly to be on r/thewalkingdead because it’s my main fandom and has some of the most lovely people I’ve ever met 🙂
A secondary reason would be to keep up with tech and what people think of new electronic releases. I like tech.
Because I like giving people my opinion, whether they want it or not. LOL
Bored
I’m chronically ill and bed bound, with severe brain fog (diminished mental capacity). It’s one of the few activities i can tolerate.
Cause it used to have less ads than the mainstream social media platforms.
I want to ask questions and socialize
To farm dat karma
Because Facebook is a f’n cesspool and the people here are pretty cool.
ADHD
Because I’m a lonely loser 🤪✌️

More helpful than Google.

Knowing that I am not alone in anything I am going through

For mom jokes
Boredom. Better than social media.
All my hobbies all in one place. Plus, it’s the only thing I can get to load on my phone at work.
Bored at work
Because it’s better than some other social media platform
I honestly don’t know
4 no reason
Yahoo Answers is gone, so when I need information this is the easiest place.
News, porn and game reviews.
Idk
I like talking to strangers
First day and Im not sure yet
Multiple perspectives, not just the ‘right one’.
I don’t use other social media.
Because if I inundated my friends and family with how much I want to blather about Final Fantasy 5, they’d leave me.
This is the only social situation I want to have.
For the chaos, the oddly helpful advice and those spicy comments that somehow know exactly what I’m into
Anonymity & brain stimulation.
Purely shitpost
Doomscrolling addiction. All other forums I used are dead or I lost interest in them
Because I’ve always enjoyed debating and bouncing around ideas on message boards for as long as i can remember … and Reddit is, by far, the king of all message boards.
It’s the realest of the social medias
It’s the best place on the net
NSFW

Other points of view
Distraction
I originally created an account because this is what answered most of my questions when I looked them up anyways
To hide from reality
Because in terms of racist incels. They tend to gravitate more to 4chan.
If I wanted see someone go on a rant about white supremacy and killing jews thats where id go. Or how many 2 liters of cum they’ve filled up over the last year.
Theres significantly less here. That is why I choose reddit.
Because I enjoy being called a fascist for having moderate conservative opinions on some things.
It’s an app that takes away all my stress for real, r/funnymemes cracks me up always
To have my posts banned for the most stupid reasons
Gaming info. Boobs.
Crippling depression where I can still vaguely interact with people without having to talk to any of my IRL friends about “why”.
Porn and shit talking
Originally to snark, now I’m working on my streaks lol
I actually learn things!
Cause it’s better than Facebook
Entertainment.
Honestly I’m obsessed. There’s so much useful information on here.
I don’t have any other social media.
Some things are fun to look at and peruse….Other things I have learned I need to just mute the sub for.

I’m off ig, fb, sc, x – this is really the only sm that feels… not gross to me, and I can get my doom scroll fix..
I’d like to drop reddit too at some point, and honestly? Going back to a early 00s text and picture only flip phone would be awesome.
At some point I’d love to completely disconnect from all of this.
I love it, reddit is essentially the face of the internet for me for better or worse.
It was a mistake!
Boredom. Curiosity.
Also, I like to write, and I like to be helpful, so I answer a lot of questions.
I needed to replace Facebook.
I need the social media and other platforms don’t harbour the kind of discussions i want to see.
To help others, to research, and for fun.
It’s like an interactive, pick and choose “Dear Abby” for me!
Best Porn app ever created.
Boredom
Because I crave constant validation
I look at a lot of trade work stuff. Then I fall down weird rabbit holes I wasn’t looking for.
Gaming communities, btw mods on r/Seaofthieves are terrible
Edit: it’s because they don’t exactly punish by their rules, they ban and remove posts whenever they feel like it while leaving posts that violate the rules up
To advertise and to figure out solutions to some problem that someone also had years ago
Something to do
Because all other social media sucks
Mostly to pass time. I like reading people’s stories in bed just before I fall asleep and occasionally I get answers to very random and yet specific questions. If I’m on my phone, 90% of the time I’m on Reddit. I actually prefer to be on here than to be on instagram or facebook

To avoid family and meta products
I ask myself everytime I read comments
Boredom. And it’s a one stop place for various types of things I’m interested in.
Its only for while I’m bored at work mostly
Genuinely like seeing people’s ideas on things.
Also porn.
I feel like I talk to people
Its still somewhat occupied by human
I don’t have any other socials, so I be on here chilling. At least here along with the brain rot, I be learning shit sometimes
Mostly porn tbh.
Same reason as you.
Seeking validation of my consumer choices.
To kill time
Cheaper than therapy.
To ask/answer questions.
I’m in the office I might as well do something
Titties
With my thumbs mostly…mostly
Closest thing to social media I am willing to use.
…because Digg sold out, right?
Boredom.
I don’t want to do my work
I’m a lonely little blue pixel in the field of deep red that is Arkansas. On here I can be myself like I can’t on FB.
I like helping people and Reddit is a good place to answer questions that I might be knowledgeable about for others
To be a troll!!! Someone’s gotta say it!
To distract myself from my problems
Three reasons.
It’s the fastest way to get people to talk about basically any subject. Kinda the social media version of a news board or speakeasy. Kinda, a little
I talk about Jesus online to other people who talk about Jesus. Thats pretty much it
In Reddit people ask questions. I anwer. In person nobody asks questions ever.
I like learning and sharing fun facts. I also have an unhealthy enjoyment of arguing
Because the commenters are snarky a$$holes like me. And cats.
I like reading peoples interesting stories like AITA
hobby, better social media out of the rest, porn.
Let’s be real, we all have a mental illness of some sort.
When i use other social media sites, I have to sift through a bunch of shit that I don’t care about before finding something I like.
On reddit, I just click on the subject that I am interested in (the subreddit) and instantly see a bunch of stuff I am interested in.
Porn
Because sometimes writing and getting replies makes you feel like you’re not alone.
Allows for a more niche and curated doomscrolling experience.
I can really relate to a lot of the topics I read about in my subs. And I’m addicted to the AITA sub even if half the time it’s fake ass shit lol.
It’s like an adult fidget spinner that also happens to give you some news you may not may not read and some vague conversation.
As a kid i thought it was for porn but later i realised it has a more to it and also porn
because reddit is not like tiktok. there is everything you can think of on reddit.
Cause I’m bored.
poop scrolling mostly
Depends on what community. Sometimes for fun, but I mostly ask questions, sometimes share opinions, sometimes ask for help.
