Why does Bolivia pester Peru with their dances?

r/

I’ve been on tiktok and Facebook the past couple of months and the anti-peruvian campaign of bolivians against Peruvian altiplanic dances is insane. Like I know the originas of the Coporales and Morenada are contested but goddamn Bolivians are acting as if the people from across the border aren’t literally the same peoples but with diferent nationality. It’s an absurd fight

I agree it is insane, but the first time I heard that lago Titicaca was Titi in Perú, Caca in Bolivia came from a peruvian, let’s not act like this is a first that came from nowhere.

Are you actually asking, or just ranting? Either way, I find it funny when countries argue over trivial shit. Like Venezuelans and Colombians over arepas, or Mexicans and Guatemalans over the origin of some things.

Literally the same thing happens with Bolivians and north-Chileans, like, some dances are oldest than our counties, still, there are so many Bolivian descendants in those areas. They have a lot of other problems to be worried about what Peruvians and Chileans are dancing or not.

It’s curious, because I’ve actually found a lot of social media accounts dedicated exclusively to speaking horribly about Bolivia, like the peruvian tiktoker burning a bolivian flag. I also always find comments from some peruvian on any post that showcases Bolivian culture, writing nonsense and denigrating an entire country.

Is not pester, is just facts.

Peruvians are welcome to join in the dances, and as you say, most are the same people.

But there is a lot of plagiarism, and appropriation. I know many people don´t give a shit about the origin of dances, but for those who dedicated some part of their life, or their passion to it, this is just not right. It also messes with the income that tourism may represent.

Imagine saying Sushi is Korean, or Suspiro Limeño is from Ecuador, or that Machi Pichu is chilean.

Nah I’m with the bolivians in this, I dont understand why some peruvians claim they invented Diablada, like everyone knows that is bolivian cmon. In Chile diablada is mainstream too but we are not saying that we invented it lol.
