Anxiety
That’s called catastrophizing. If it’s bad enough that you can’t push those thoughts aside as being irrational and it causes you genuine fear or panic or inhibits your ability to do daily activities, that might be a sign of an anxiety disorder. If you can, I’d suggest getting a psychological screening for GAD and seek help from a therapist with experience in CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) and/or self-help books that teach CBT.
Sounds like intrusive thoughts. Give “catastrophic thinking” a Google and see if that sounds like what you’re experiencing.
