Cause then you can actually do something yourself instead of waiting for someone else that’s never going to come

    In a way it’s liberating

Because it means you are responsible for your own actions and their consequences. It’s the freedom to make your own decisions, to be an individual on your own terms.

Wait until the realization hits you that jobs, society, and obligations will attempt to renegotiate those terms accordingly and if you fuck up or have a run of really bad luck, you have nobody to blame but yourself if you can’t claw your way back up. (Within reason, some events are entirely outside our control and those events are generally marvelous or soul crushing in a magnitude that is directly proportionate to the control we have over them.)

I am unsure what you mean by “nobody is coming to save you” ? Save me from what?

No need to please for protection?

Respect for yourself and your interests is ultimate.

The ability to go full throttle immediately when things go south or go at all really. No hesitation with thinking you can hide from the problem until help arrives.

I guess my answer is a level of man/womanhood where you are more self-sufficient.

Realizing that you are capable, and culpable, of everything that occurs in your life is empowering. There is no deniability, there is no expectation of salvation. You are in charge of your life and everything you do will decide how your life goes.

🤔… because it’s the moment when you realize that in this life you’re the “main” character. And should be planning how to achieve your own personal goals, and what you think it would make you more happy in life…🤷‍♂️ Protect yourself at all times. And good luck

A long time ago. It was a sad feeling. Then I realized I can save myself, and started getting my headspace right, trying to change negative thoughts. I also started eating (a little) better, working out, and am embracing going out more. Saying yes instead of no.

Is it a bummer that I can’t rely on my family? Yes. That said, a lot of people are in the same boat.

Also, surround yourself with people who want the best for you, not to tear you down for their own benefit.

Because it turns life in to a game of Bannerlord 2. It’s liberating. Nothing is forbidden, everything is permitted.

Whilst I’m responsible for my own wellbeing, successes and outcomes, I’ve never felt alone in a “nobody is out there” kind of way. I’ve got my family, I’ve got my friends and we all are in it to make our collective lives better.

It provides a sense of agency.

I am 33, during lockdown my engine blew on my car cost me 15k to repair. I didn’t have the money to fix it and didn’t have anyone to help me, so I took a loan and made some mistakes, ending up owing 40k. Don’t ask how I am an idiot. Took me 3 years but I paid that off and am in the best position financially ever. When I think how I did that all on my own it with no help, it feels amazing.

Clarity leads to ownership, action, and a modicum of control.

its up to you. it’s that simple. you do it for yourself, you see the fruit of your labor.

That’s the flip side of existential dread. Congrats. I’m stuck on Side A

I used to think we’re very communal as far as survival but no it’s actually all on you realized that at an almost certain death.

This goes two ways, victim mindset or full responsibility. Yes its more grey then that but as for a mindset its better to typically take the full responsibility mindset. If its up to you then you have the power and are really the only one who does to take control of your life. Yes we are just a small piece in this crazy world and pawns on the global stage in so many ways but that doesnt take away agency and there are a million ways to survive and thrive within that and its up to us to find those.

Because then you can just die and it’s all over?

  19. CuckoosQuill Avatar

Not really that no one is coming more like no one cares. You are on your own.

Accountability and the success from it breeds internal confidence.

    bc existentialism is fun

  22. Twatt_waffle Avatar

Because it also comes with the realization of what you are actually capable of doing for yourself

  23. TheShadyyOne Avatar

Because not relying on others all the time means you can scavenge the world for your own meaning and worth, hence freedom in a sense.

  24. gaia_is_bae_goals Avatar

Did you all at some point think someone was?
