Why is it okay to rip things out of elderly and children’s hand at sporting events with physical violence, but if someone stepped in and physically took it back they would be arrested?

r/

Like, how does this work?

A ball lands in front of a kid and they grab it.

An adult comes and snatches it out of their hand.

They sit down.

Police don’t care.

Father gets up and pulls it back away.

Dad is now the one getting arrested.

Make it make sense.

Are you sure that would happen?

Is this about the ceo recently?

Because the item could be argued to not belong to the kid so the police do not want to get involved in a dispute over an item that has questionable ownership. Now, if you assault someone and steal something they have clearly in their possession, then the police would have no issue investigating the matter.

It’s not okay, but in what’s supposed to be a ‘family’ setting with thousands in attendance and alcohol consumption, the ballpark’s main concern is avoiding any escalation into violence.

Sometimes the team or a nice fan nearby who catches one will go give that kid another ball afterwards.

“He assaulted my kid.” Case dismissed.

Just because something is a total dick move doesn’t make it illegal.
