Why has Autism been such a big fixation for the current administration? First they said vaccines caused Autism, now it’s Tylenol.
Edit: this is about the current administration in the USA, unfortunately

Because if people pay attention to your left hand, they won’t see what your right hand is doing. It’s a distraction from the Epstein files, etc.
because RFK has been fighting the autism boogey man for decades, and now he has the power, he get to say really stupid shit and have people believe him because of his position.
Distractions and grift money. RFK Jr and Oz are going to get richer
They aren’t. They are still just tossing things out to distract from the Epstein files.
Barron
Current administration? Where? Which country?
They need a common enemy to eradicate
Current administration from which country?
Anything but the Epstein files
Because the more we know about autism, the more people we recognize are on the spectrum. There’s also not a ton of knowledge out there about it, what causes it, how to live with it, and how to treat those who have it. There are many completely opposing approaches. This creates fear and desperation in people, which is exploited for political gains. It’s an abuse of trust at the highest level.
I think it would be wonderful if someone figured out why there has been an increase in autism over the years. Something in our environment is contributing to it.
I just feel like this administration is throwing darts to see what sticks. They need to provide data to support their claims.
It’s all a distraction so we don’t notice them further dismantling the country so they are never voted out of power again.
Trump’s administration is really good at identifying problems people are worried about. Trump’s administration is terrible about fixing problems people are worried about. Trump’s administration pretends to fix the problems by doing something idiotic then shifting focus to the next problem so people forget his previous idiotic solution.
People are worried about autism. Any potential fix or reduction of autism requires many wide ranging fixes. Trump has proposed banning Tylenol for pregnant women, which has no evidence will do anything. But that’s OK, because nobody will be talking about autism by next week, when Trump introduces his next idiotic fix for a real problem.
Little bit of this, little bit of that.
Sure, currently, it’s a distraction.
Second, the religious right, the extreme parts, cannot and will not accept that they have children born with autism without it being the fault of an external, human source. They will never believe it’s genetic (that would imply God created humans with flaws–they cannot accept that).
Third, some are extreme racists, and believe that THEIR race cannot have imperfections. Oh, sure, Tylenol or whatever, but some of them are going to start blaming race and ethnicity. That’s what they really want, honestly. They, being true, white conservatives, want to do what Germany did, and when the perfect race has imperfect people, they’ll will blame autism in an external invasion of race or genetics. Likely, the “we didnt have it back in my day” will try to slip I to, “we did t have it before immigrants came”
Some of them are just really fuckin stupid, and they cannot understand even basic things about the world, and completely lack any cognitive empathy at all (blame lead if you like, but some are too young for that excuse), and their moral development is in the early stages of Kohlberg’s 6, so, social conformity. Their argument here, is that, because an autistic person doesn’t confirm perfectly to their social system, that person is inherently immoral. The conservatives in this case, literally do not have the mental power to achieve higher orders of moral systems, and view it like this. This is the same exact source of their stance on immigration, when they’re not explicitly racist. Conformity is the PEAK or morality for them.
Because it’s the favorite boogie man of alternative medicine whack jobs. One of whom is setting the agenda in HHS now.
Tbh, autism is becoming a big deal. The number of people is rising at an alarming rate, and we dont know what’s causing it.
Anyone who figures out how to prevent it will be widely adored. Also, RFK promised to release a report on the cause by September, and the time has come.
People here are so negative. Would the same have been said if the Biden administration had made this an issue? Let’s not let social media control the narrative. Why must we call this obsessed? I don’t think that’s the case. It’s a dig at the administration. Why not just be happy thatchy may have found a link?
Not at all speaking to the seriousness of his speech on Tylenol, and I apologize for that in advance, but man, sometimes when he speaks the ratio of filler words to content is like 3:1 and I can’t stop laughing. It’s just like a regular dude saying every thought that comes to mind.
It’s been a pet project of RFK for years. Now that he’s in a position of power, he’s making it a priority
Because there is an increase in autism diagnosis.
Because it’s base is very stupid and easily controlled and will believe literally anything, and autism or trans bullshit is the kind of outrage the Presidency can use to stoke the flames of it’s base to distract from other things, like the Epstein files.
Easy target. No concrete objective diagnostics/symptoms/phenotypes. No known mechanism or causes. No cures or treatments.
It’s a ghost you can blame everything on and easy distraction
It’s interesting how it’s the one ‘disorder’ with a name tied back to Nazis…we don’t call it Asperger’s anymore. Makes you wonder why the Nazis we’re studying it (it had to do with types of people versus compliance in society)
They’re obsessed with distractions. The easier a subject is for the masses to grasp the better distraction it is. Most people know someone affected by autism. Whether it be someone directly or a loved one of an autistic. It’s a solid “boogieman” because even though “they” hate empathy they can empathize with the effects of autism.
Distraction du jour.
Because they identify with being autistic?
He was raised in a family that valued eugenics. He has a son (or more than one) with a genetic condition he deems inferior. But he doesn’t believe that can’t be true because of his superior yt genes, so it must be something the women did to the babies during pregnancy.
Reality is this: Trump followers love having people to blame for their misfortune, they love being victims almost as much as they love abusing the “others” who they are upset at having to consider.
Autism is unhelpful, a serious struggle generating real stress and a lot of emotions. If you can give them something to blame other than their own genetics, some plausible deniability, and combine that with something to lash out at, they’re going to hold on to that like Grimm death.
I doubt there’s a link there. With the economy headed downhill, their reputation in tatters, Charlie Kirk getting murdered, ICE getting slapped around reputation-wise, Putin having his way, and Trump seriously understanding that everybody hates him, I truly believe they just needed a win for their cult followers, and don’t give a single shit if what they said was true and provable or not. And even if there is a link their trusted worthiness is so gut shot that only the most ignorant, slavish, cult-entranced idiot would follow it.
The bar is so low for these guys, I’m sort of surprised they didn’t just say they cured cancer by having everybody eat McDonald’s.
Associate David Geier and Lupron
Controversial treatment: An associate named David Geier, who does not hold a medical degree, and his father, a licensed physician, previously promoted unproven therapies for autistic children, including the use of Lupron.
“Chemical castration” drug: Lupron is a drug licensed to treat prostate cancer by inducing chemical castration at high doses. Geier has been accused of improperly administering puberty-blocking drugs like Lupron to children.
Recent scrutiny: Geier’s association with Kennedy recently drew scrutiny after Kennedy, as Secretary of Health and Human Services, appointed him to lead an autism study.
Obsession with normality and “purity”. The same group that wants people to be straight, cis, etc also demonizes neurodivergence. The existence of chronic mental conditions like autism also disrupts the “bootstraps” narrative that any barriers to success are things you can fix, so they’re desperately looking for a cure, no matter how stupid.
Every finger pointing is a confession hehe
because they can take the money allocated to autism research (now that they’ve found the ’cause’) and allocate it to some other money-making scheme
My theory is they all had to hang out with Elon for a little while and now they want to eradicate autism.
RFJ Jr. is particularly obsessed with autism. It’s almost like it’s a….special interest if you will.
Anyway, since he helped Trump win he gets to do whatever he wants
The current Republican Party is bolstered heavily by a bunch of fucking idiots who believe conspiracy theories and that the government has been lying to the public for decades. This administration isn’t actually obsessed with autism, but a large chunk of their base is, and so this is meant to appease those people by putting on a show that looks like they’re making progress towards uncovering all these “secrets” that no one else would have ever admitted are true. It gives them legitimacy with the idiots, while the rest of them roll their eyes and tell themselves it’s still better than a Democrat in office.
Because they want to kill us period end of discussion
They are taking the same way the Nazis talked in Germany
Everyone who’s saying it’s a distraction is correct but imo it’s only a part of the story.
They believe in eugenics. Autism is viewed as a genetic deficiency to them, and it’s something to be removed. Stripping away the contextuals around how and when they move against it, at the core, they believe in junk science. Eugenics and racial, biological superiority of one race or peoples over others.
You underestimate the amount of people with autism or children with autism trying to find a link to XYZ…
I’m not bashing those people, but people think things up, have resentments due to a myriad of things they perhaps didn’t like nor approve of during their kids or their upbringing
You end up with millions of people lobbying for some place to point their resentment or frustration
Worst thing to do, imho, is just mock them or try to frustrate them more.
Let things ride out and die, or see where it goes
It would seem it’s not just the administration 🙂
They need to keep the support of the crunchy mom to alt-right pipeline.
Distract from their lack of doing anything to help citizens and the Epstein files
Why am I so stupid as to expect someone to actually answer the question? Instead, they just rant about Trump. No wonder the world views him negatively when the same crap is repeated over and over again…
I don’t believe Tylenol causes autism, but I’m not a doctor and I could be wrong, although it’s very unlikely. I’m 99.9% sure Tylenol does NOT cause autism.
Well (unlike others who just want to vent their political ideology: “Look, I hate Trump, love and praise me”), I’ll answer the question:
I think Trump, who is already a bit older, still clings to the knowledge he accumulated in the 80s and 90s.
More medications are taken these days than back then, and there are significantly more chemicals in our food and pollutants in the air. Naturally, there would be more Asperger’s disease and autism cases (though I don’t think it’s Tylenol), and so he’s putting two and two together WITHOUT understanding the connection. I think he’s stuck in his ways, and when we humans don’t understand something, we see connections where there might not be any, that’s how I explain it 🙂
In short: Trump and his people are drawing the wrong conclusions and are stuck in their ways. And that has nothing to do with Epstein, since he was already talking about it years before the allegations vaccinations, for example, but I personally don’t believe that leads to autism either.
Because RFK is obsessed with autism. And Trump, for whatever reason, idolizes RFK. That’s it.
Rosie O’Donnell said there’s a good chance Barron has it because of how he handles himself, and Trump hasn’t let that go.
It’s a great distraction.
This is gunna sound like a reach but just hear me out. I think it’s religious psychosis and eugenics combo.
In the Bible Eves original sin was punished by making childbirth extremely painful. Tylenol is one of the only safe pain relievers out there that pregnant women can take. And there’s a bunch of hyper-religious nut cases pulling this admins strings that are obsessed with controlling women’s reproduction and also really really hate women and want them to suffer. Additionally eliminating neurodivergence in any and all form was a lesser known goal of the evil guy with the mustache In the 1940’s so this is right on track with the whole pale people supremacy they got going on too.
Why are they so obsessed with what is in my pants?
I’m convinced Charlie Kirk had it. He shows serious signs of Asperger and anyone who’s worked with someone or children that have this kind of autism would say the same. So why aren’t we talking about it?
Bc it’s been said that Barron is autistic.
Nothing is normal. Nothing is scientific. Nothing is in the public or afflicted’s interest. Nothing is above board. Nothing has been researched. This is just another smash and grab by this administration that condones hysteria, misinformation, corruption and a plunge for any kind of legitimacy or relevance.
It’s preying on the most vulnerable, and selecting a marginalized scapegoat like all of their attacks and scams. Once the money is eventually followed and in 20 years it will become much clearer. That’s if the entire idea of governance in the USA is even still standing and not tribalism and oligarchical fiefdom in tent cities, a militaristic police state. And…much suffering.
It has something to do with training their AI for human behavior.
If they get rid of autists, they get rid of pretty much all of us in science, finance and Reddit. Nobody left to argue against them.
/s (but I wouldn’t put it past them).
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosemary_Kennedy
Trump has been besties with the guy who founded Autism Speaks (which is basically a hate group) for ages. He’s been parroting that guy’s rhetoric for years before he was ever running for office. It’s really that simple.
It’s not the Epstein files
Trump told RFK that he could do anything he wanted if he got his constituency to vote for Trump.
Trump doesn’t care one way or the other. Also, as someone else mentioned, this is a distraction from the Epstein files. (So, keep up the pressure on that pedo stuff too)
Republicans game plan for decades has been to find some boogeyman (homosexuality, minorities, immigrants, woke, DEI, autism, expertise, etc) and make it as scary as possible for low-effort, low-information voters to make them fall in line and vote against their best interests.
Can you not think about another government that was obsessed with people they saw as having mental and physical disabilities and how they were a bane on society.
Surely I can’t be the only one who gets super bad vibes with how they talk about autism.. based on you know.. history.
They’re not, really. I’m co Vince’s they don’t have any serious allegiance to any issue or concern, beyond their own profits. They’re pandering to their followers to shut them up. If Trump thought he’d get more votes/followers by being pro-choice, he’d be mandated abortions at this point. (Sarcasm, obviously).
You can also bet that all their children and grandchildren will be vaxxed, have access to birth control and abortion, etc etc no matter what they try to foist on the commoners.
RFK is on a planet by himself though, who can say why he’s so obsessed with any of the shit he’s obsessed with.
Autism cases have ballooned in the last 30 years. It’s a condition on the minds of many Americans.
Because Dr. Oz apparently has a “cure” or autism….look it up.
If they make the cause the mothers’ fault, then they can blame someone and justify not helping autistic kids. They have also clearly stated that they want to send people they consider mentally handicapped to work camps. To, their minds Autism falls under that as does being Trans, gay, democrat or feminist. So again, making it a liberal mothers fault, her kid is autistic because she took Tylenol or vaccinated them will punish the right people.
They’re obsessed with everything they don’t understand. It’s also yet another opportunity for whatever grift they can come up with to attach to it to be able to profit off of something.
The evil villain wants nothing more than to be the unsung action hero.
There’s a lot of reasons, but it comes down to “who can I attack that will not be able to fight back?”
The administration has attacked immigrants, because they are demographically the poorest and least integrated people, so they are the safest to attack. They attack trans people because they’re rare enough that most people don’t know anyone who is trans, so they can lie about them easily. They attack autistics because autistics are often misunderstood and people are often scared of their kids being autistic.
They need a scapegoat to get people looking at, so they don’t look at how badly they’re screwing everything up. These are just the easiest targets to aim at.
Its because they are loyal yet not competent.
because baron is autistic
Projection
Since they made autism a super wide spectrum it basically now encompasses nearly anyone with traits essential for the future of the species.
There is severe autism where people can no longer function but the reason it’s so prevalent is because of the way it has been framed. The absence of autistic traits is just as abnormal as the extreme on the other end but they have defined normal as none of them.
Given these traits that have been defined as being autistic are fundamental to our success as a species I have started to assume that their obsession with autism is because they want to demonize anyone who is intelligent with basic pattern recognition.
No one else is going to say this, and I think there are a number of reasons people with autism make a perfect easy target and distraction, but everyone needs to listen to The Telepathy Tapes and then consider the weird indiscriminate silent war on the communication technique known as “spelling” for non-speakers in the autism community. This opens up multitudes about things the government is well aware of and is studying and utilizing themselves. So much is coming out from every angle, not just fringe conspiracy spaces. Corrupted governments and religions throughout history have been trying to keep us from finding out who and what we really are, from finding out the power each individual weilds in a very real way. We are right on the edge now of so many truths that will be hard to swallow, yet hard to look away from. Call me crazy if you want, that’s fine, but do yourself a favor and explore this.
I gave my take to another post asking about autism. Here is the copy pasta
First of all, why obsess over anything right now? From a political standpoint, literally anything sounds better than moving forward with the Epstein investigation. Anything that gets people’s attention away from that is a fair target, which should explain why everything is so off the wall right now.
Secondly, to get to your question more specifically, autism represents a vague spectrum, which invites all sorts of ways to make the issue into a boogie man in a different form.
There are tons of undiagnosed high-functional autistic people discovered every year, which suggests there are more, and perhaps we are all on the spectrum in a small way, and really it’s more like a threshold of specific divergence that makes a person autistic, medically speaking. This is a boogie man lurking to taunt the fears of the uninformed. By extension, this applies to misinformation and disinformation about the causes of autism. They don’t have to tell you the truth if they make you feel like it’s unknowable. Boogieman.
Also, they can wrap all of this up with imagery and implications that all autism is extremely disabled, low functioning autism. Another boogie man. You don’t want the kids to be disabled, do you?
I have met several autistic people who are just precious and don’t deserve to be used as a child rapists political prop, but here we are.
My framing is that the Trump admin spends a lot of time making “TV” for their base. They’re out in front of cameras making sure their actions are being seen and heard in such a way so as to entertain their base and make them feel like Trump and friends are “winning” in their television show of an administration. From Kash to Kristi even Trump himself, they’re all running around like their on set. Playing the “character” of a FBI director or health secretary rather than actually being one.
This episode of the Trump admin was for the health cranks in his base, ya know the ones who drink Metholine Blue or preach the benefits of ivermectin. Only a producer got hold of the script last minute and changed the plot revolving around vaccines to Tylenol.
I lament that their making TV approach has horrifying consequences for everyday folks but here we are, half our nation is too dumb to separate the fact from fiction.
Same reason that Nazis started with the disabled.
They changed the diagnostic criteria which folded a few conditions that were separate into a diagnosis on the autism spectrum. Consequently, more total people are diagnosed with autism where before they would have been given a different name for their condition.
Because Americans are bad at math and reading, this is interpreted along the lines of ‘over diagnosis’. Well, if you already believe half of it is illegitimate, then selling you on the idea that the supposedly legit cases are to do with SOMETHING the mother did is easy.
You can boil a lot of current politics to blaming women or some group (like, say, trans people) with no political power for the failures of the elite who are in power. Certainly easier than taking any responsibility.
It’s not new news it’s just now getting some attention. Autism has been on the rise for decades and now there is someone willing to do something about it and half the country thinks he is trying to pull a fast one. People will think what they want. Wish this was brought to light sooner but some admins had other agendas.
Its a way for them to push radical ideas about medicen and see what there base is willing to believe. Like recently with Tylenol, they dont care about autism, but Dr Oz who is part of Trumps admin stands to gain a lot of money from business going towards a company he has a large stake in if people stop buying tylenol and start buying folic acid.
So they dont really care, like everything else Trumps admin does, its about money and manipulation
I’m convinced they just want everyone to focus on things that aren’t money/economy related, while they set themselves up to make tons of money and tax breaks behind the scenes without anyone noticing. So they try to keep us all fighting about trans rights, vaccines, religion, autism, etc. In a month it’ll be something else.
Facebook moms and anti vaxers.
LOOK OVER THERE!!
It’s all a distraction. They’ve used mistrust in institutions as a tool to recruit (like a cult does). It’s no coincidence that QAnon and health-nut boards are swarmed with racist conservatives. They’re being pandered to that they’re the REAL victims, and all the vaccine/autism bullshit has been just one of the tools of the “scientific elite” trying to take advantage of them.
Those systems of logic and critical thinking are easier to dismantle when you’re scaring people
The same administration who hired a dude to run the department of health whose entire credentials on the subject begin and end with an unscientific crusade against vaccines due to a thoroughly disproven link to autism? Gee yeah what a surprise.
Trumps autistic kid
How about you google “graph of autism rates over time” and have a look at that? Should we NOT be interested in learning why it’s happening more and more over time? It’s not like it hasn’t been discussed for the past 25 years as an important issue.
It’s a handy distraction.
