AI generated images and videos are literally polluting the Internet and taking the place of real (even slightly) man-made content. There is no benefit to it. AI inbreeding might also arise sooner than we realise, so why not?

There often are on places it breaks the rules. It does not break the rules on most platforms
Because the social media companies only care about engagement. If that content generates engagement, they want it there (and even view it as a net positive)
Social media don’t mind AI generated content being shared, and don’t want to remove it. A report option then makes no sense, because if they’re not looking to remove it, they also don’t need reports
There is benefit to it. It puts content on those sites. “Content is king” I personally like seeing some of it. AI generated images are interesting to me.
I like some AI generated slop, it can be pretty funny
What’s the spending billions on training of sophisticated models, and then having them generate beautiful art and thoughtful texts, only for you to request their removal?
We should keep these treasures and enjoy them instead.
Most social medias don’t have an incentive to remove that stuff. My guess is that if enough people leave the platform because of too much AI garbage, that might make them remove or quarantine the AI slop
I keep seeing more and more posts in social media that are made up videos. It’s putting me off even opening them in the first place. So they are in danger of killing off the medium.
Because it’s not against the terms of service.
Whose job would it be to verify whether the content was really AI-generated? People could just use the system to report anything they didn’t like.
Because at the moment it’s not illegal, just because you dislike it doesn’t make it reportable.
If you want real art go to Art shows.
The internet has ALWAYS been filled with low effort images polluting it, 90% of meme are just taking someone else art and slapping a low effort witty text across it and posting it.
