    Nicotine feels good

  2. Gladamas Avatar

People continue using it after the first time because nicotine is very addictive.

  3. guy_from_LI_747 Avatar

People don’t do things looking at and worrying about health hazards .. you’d never leave the womb if you knew how unsafe life is

I’d say it starts in college for most nowadays. Depends on the group you’re hanging out with. All it really takes is for one person in the group who might have a bit of power or influence over others to smoke. Others might then follow in their footsteps and get hooked before they realise what they’re getting themselves into

I work with a smart 30 y/o guy who smokes. I really don’t get it.

  6. According-Anybody508 Avatar

I didn’t quit smoking because smoking wasn’t fun.

Why do people live outside the fast food drive-thru’s for breakfast lunch and dinner?

  8. PeakRepresentative14 Avatar

I used it as an appetite suppression in the woman’s shelter. It was cheaper to get some cigs than some food sadly.

Man I used to love that first drag with coffee in the morning. Later I realized I was self-medicating my ADD with all the things I was ingesting, and got a real script for meds. Still enjoying the coffee though.

    God I miss smoking.

  11. gdelacalle Avatar

Because it is satisfying and entertaining? I used to smoke and found it better than sucking my thumbs.

Same reason people drink alcohol, snort cocaine, or shoot heroin.

    Feels good, man.

In fields like nursing and cooking it was the only way for a while to get a 5 minute break from the chaos

  14. Dry_System9339 Avatar

Have you tried it? It’s a sacred medicinal plant for good reasons.

  15. drunky_crowette Avatar

Same reason anyone does any drugs. They feel good.

  16. Ninevehenian Avatar

People will do a lot for sensation, for a kick and people will sometimes do the opposite of others for reasons.

  17. Amazing-Artichoke330 Avatar

    Tobacco is very addictive.

Ask the doctors and nurses you’ll find smoking outside of any hospital

Dopamine delivered in a perfect dose.

When did you sniff Satan’s butthole? what did it cost you? 🤭

  21. KrackSmellin Avatar

Stupidity. No seriously.. that and an addiction they can’t kick.

Same reason people still drink even though the WHO  and other health agencies have declared there is literally no safe amount of alcohol consumption.

For the relaxing sensation it brings, and as someone who’s a bit introverted, it’s been a great way to strike up conversations with other people. So there’s a social benefit as well. I haven’t had a cigarette in eight months, but damn do I miss it.

  24. Thaiaaron Avatar

First smoke in the morning with a coffee. A cigarette after a meal or that first one on a friday when you get your first pint. Heavenly.

Addiction. I started at age 12. Every time I tried to quit, I couldn’t control myself, I was very agressive, sometimes I went frenzy for a minute without any control, I could kill anyone. When I wanted help I was told “just don’t be agressive”. It was like you say “just watch” to a blind man.

At age 42 I was diagnosed with ADHD and it means I was using nicotine as medicine. Without proper diagnose and medication we use everything that stimulates us, coffee, cigarette, sometimes illegal stuffs.

I think every smoker has a story how they became addicted.

  26. whatshamilton Avatar

It’s a drug. Why do people smoke pot or drink alcohol even though we know they’re bad for you? Because it feels good.

  27. 2neuroni Avatar

Wha-what? Smoking damages my health? God, I am going to quit right now!

    -no smoker ever

  28. R2-Scotia Avatar

Was 46, visiting my dad and couldn’t find any weed locally, and started on his rolling tobacco. I don’t have kids.

  29. mae1347 Avatar

Addiction doesn’t follow a logical path.

I do very much believe satans butthole smells WAY worse than cigarettes.

  33. Dawn36 Avatar

Started when I was 15. Bad childhood, wrong crowd, parents that didn’t care, all a recipe for teenager smoking. I quit for a long time, but when my husband died I started again. I want to quit again, I think I will soon, it’s just tough getting to that point.

  34. D2G23 Avatar

    Take a look around.

  35. nixiedust Avatar

I started to cover the smell of weed before it was legal. I quit a long time ago but still smoke in my dreams. I liked the taste and the way it reminded me to breathe on LSD.

  36. Y0___0Y Avatar

    Culture definitely still glamorizes it.

I have friends who don’t smoke but they’ll pretend to outside of bars because they think it’s cool.

  37. PhoneWinner Avatar

Ever done kitchen work? I never picked up the habit… but I get it

smoking is one of many things that feels good but is bad for you. getting fucked up feels good but is bad for you. cleaning your ears with q-tips feels good but is bad for you. eating french fries feels good but is bad for you. you start doing this stuff when you’re young and your impulse control isn’t fully developed, and you try to stop when you’re old and you are feeling the consequences. it isn’t that weird or complicated.
