So we switched apartments last month and we love our new apartment except our upstairs neighbor is kinda rude.
She spray paints flowers with gold glitter on her patio which would be fine but she doesn’t put anything under it and just mopping her patio with soapy water instead, pushing it all off the patio.
So all of that soapy, glittery water drains right onto our patio where our two 1 yearold cats like to play, making it dangerous for them.
Plus we just ordered new patio furniture and don’t want her mess on it either.
We just had to scrub it off last week and as I was leaving for work this afternoon she did it again. I don’t want to nesscarily be a crappy neighbor and report her to our landlord but I feel she’s not the type to just take our request not to dump it kindly either.
So would I be a asshole if I reported her to our landlord?

I doubt that your landlord will say anything that might result in the tenant spray painting glitter inside the unit.
Would you rather talk to her first or have her know you went to the landlord? My vote is a note or talking to her saying FYI it’s getting onto our stuff and we are concerned it could be ruined. Could she please just dry it instead of pushing it off her balcony?

NTA. Especially since I just saw that you answered she is confrontational, REPORT HER. Otherwise, I would suggest talking to her first. But if she’s going to be calling the police on neighbors, then no. Also,she would almost have to already know that she is being rude,pushing all that crap off of hers below on to yours..
You would probably be the asshole if you reported her before you try having a friendly conversation with her about it first. Give it a try, she might surprise you.
Report her. Nothing from her should be landing on your patio – not even water from her overwatering plants. That’s your space.
