r/

Just as the question suggest. How do y’all gain confidence and self-esteem after losing everything and have to start all over again?

One day at a time. That’s all you can do sometimes.

We’re often focused on what more we need to do, or how we could do stuff better. Instead of that kind of focus, give yourself credit for every tiny bit of progress. You did half your dishes? Great! That’s half of them done! You applied for that job? Fantastic. You took a shower? Hell yeah.

Depending on the day you’ll get more or less done, but for every tiny step in the right direction you can give yourself credit. Hell, I even give myself credit for just not backsliding.

    • I decided to speak about myself positively. Instead of being like “fuck I wish I had almond shaped eyes” I started complimenting my round eyes. That’s a superficial example but you get it.

    • I tried to do a lot more of what made me happy. Getting dressed up, doing my skincare stuff, taking care of my body, being healthy etc. Watching loads of films, going for a swim. Just be cognizant of what is truly enjoyable for you and make those a must in your weekly schedule.

    • dance lessons have been a big factor in gaining confidence! Just gotta be consistent
