I had a total hysterectomy a few years back and honestly, I got my life back. One of my main concerns was that I would lose all sexual function and pleasure and I tried to avoid surgery for as long as I could. Sex before was often unsatisfying and my sex drive was waning due to the constant pain and discomfort I was in. I also very rarely orgasmed in general. After the hysterectomy my sex drive shot through the roof lol. Sex is much more satisfying and I can orgasm more frequently than pre-hysterectomy. Overall, I found that having the hysterectomy really improved my sexual health.
How much of a role does your cervix play in your sexual satisfaction?
I know mine plays a significant role so I opted for keeping my cervix. Sometimes its an option, sometimes its not.
Research I read about it at the time found that both groups of women – those who kept the cervix and those who had it removed – had their sexual function improved, with the group who kept their cervixes reporting slightly higher sexual satisfaction than the counterparties who didn’t.
I miss my cervix and I swear I felt orgasm in my uterus or something, that’s also gone. The rest is the same. Plus, no more pain. I had alot from endometriosis
I’ve always been sensitive. I have nerve pain in my actual vagina, which makes intercourse painful sometimes. But I’ve always had a very easy time orgasming when my husband takes care of my clitoris, and that hasn’t changed one bit.
I had a total but kept my ovaries. She took out my cervix. I had it done endoscopically in March 2024. Took me about 16 weeks to recovery totally. I found that I seem to orgasm quicker and everything seems tighter. Now this is just me time. Right after I had it my husband and I decided to divorce and I haven’t had any real sex since then. But I’m hoping it’s going to be better when I do. Good luck
I had a partial hysterectomy at 32, I just have one ovary left. I had some complications that made recovery take longer but now I feel amazing. I wish I had done a little more research and kept my cervix, though. My gyno sold it to me as not having to worry about Pap smears or cervical cancer, which is true… but still I miss it just a little bit lol.
In general, 10/10 recommend especially if you have endometriosis like I do.

It’s the same really. There was a period of a few months post op where orgasms were diminished but it came back. If it happens to you, don’t panic.
Also I recommend the hysterectomy subreddit.

Either way, negative outcomes are rarely reported

Yes for sex drive, yes for orgasm.

No difference. Everything works the same way as before when it comes to sex.
Easier and safer
