Well, essentially, I hated my job (administration), but due to where I lived there wasn’t much else available, so I felt stuck until I decided I’d had a fuck-full of it and started looking to get out to do literally anything else.

I’d always wanted to be a writer. Writing is the only thing I feel I can do without having to think about it, so I started reaching out to people to do work for free to build my portfolio. Then, by luck, someone offered me a job based on my old social media account and from there I was able to move into a job that allowed me to write every day, which helped build a solid foundation for new skills.

Now I’m a copywriter living in a major UK city and I absolutely love it. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because it still feels unreal, the difference between my working life now and 5 years ago. I feel very lucky.
