He took a really bad turn mental health wise and was in the hospital for three months. But we made it through and are better than ever!
We just kept staying committed to each other because we are both stubborn assholes! I’ve had people that are going through something similar ask me how long it took to be happy again and the answer for us was 5 years. That’s how long it took for me to fall back in love with him after I lost all love and respect for him. I’m so glad we stuck together and worked through our differences because it genuinely made our marriage rock solid!
We both always had the same end goal.. to have a happy and healthy family, together. We both came from very dysfunctional childhoods so it’s incredibly important to us to create and maintain that nuclear family lifestyle. He fixed some MAJOR issues of his (or else he was going to die) and I realized that I was the only one who could help him through it. He wasn’t going to do it for himself but I knew he would do it for me. So I allowed him to move back home so we could work on things together. 3 years later, he has maintained his wellness, and collectively, we’re more in love than we’ve ever been.
Good luck to you OP
