I think it depends on if they’re on the fence in a way where they are genuinely open to both options, or if they’re using “I’m not sure” as a soft launch for saying they’re childfree.
My husband was the former. He knew that choosing to stay with me meant that kids were in the plan. In another life, with another partner, I think he could have been happily childfree. As it is, we have two kids who he loves, and he’s the one hesitant to commit to a vasectomy “just in case.”
