Hey everyone, recently work responsibilities and workload have increased which has lead to me waking up at 3am pretty much every morning regardless of when I go to sleep. I am healthy otherwise, workout regularly, eat clean and don’t have caffeine in the afternoon.
I can fight this by going to bed at 8pm once my son is asleep so I get a reasonable amount of sleep but this sucks the life out of the week.. and tips or advice are welcome.
Thanks!

I have the same issue. Work stress makes it very challenging to sleep. I also do not have the answers and do all the right things.
I’ve done shift work for the past 16 years. Low doses of trazodone work wonders for me.
Extended release melatonin.
It may help by actually having caffeine in the afternoon – it may help delay your sleep cycle.
I’m not trying to be smart however I too have issues with long term insomnia. I followed a famous US self help plan for chronic insomnia a few years ago which meant cutting down on the caffeine – unfortunately my insomnia got worse..
It sounds like you’re generally doing the right things and using your common sense.
Sleep and potential insomnia an equation with so many differential variable factors but sometimes it’s more ‘random’ and maybe due to unseen (or misunderstood) factors.
You seem to have identified the point at which your insomnia started, can’t you reduce your workload (?).
There certainly isn’t a magic pill however possibly Melatonin may help. Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone which helps regulate your sleep / wake cycle. If you do try then buy from a reputable source (it’s actually regulated as a medication in England) and start with a very low dose. In terms of Melatonin ‘more is not more’ and some people don’t react well to it.
Probably an unpopular piece of advice, but when was the last time you got black out drunk?
Might just reset your brain or something. I suffer from sporadic bouts of insomnia, and when i was younger i used just get really goddamned drunk.
Worked out for me, at least in the short term
