Worth it to try again?

r/

I’m a 26 year old male on the west coast and I’ve always wanted to get into law enforcement. I applied to be a corrections officer at the age of 19 and was not hired due to an inconclusive polygraph. A few months later I was also not hired due to an inconclusive polygraph with a massive police department at the age of 20.5.

A lot of cops and correctional officers I know simply told me to get some “good time” in and to try again in a few years. Since these 2 inconclusive polygraphs I’ve gone on to work in the commercial driving industry and long story short I’m miserable thinking about how my life could be so much different if I could pursue my dream of LE.

For some background I have no idea why these polygraphs were marked as inconclusive I was not disqualified or at least I was not told that they simply said “we are choosing to not proceed in the process” and didn’t really list an exact reason behind it.

I have no history of drug use outside of marijuana a few times between the ages of 16-19. I have absolutely zero criminal record and even some cops I’ve grown up around are stumped on why this happened twice.

Any input helps just trying to give this one last go before I either get into LE or move on from this as a potential career path.
