Hello! I am 30F and have been hammering out where I want to go professionally. I’ve been a paramedic for the last few years and a paramedic skills instructor (no degree required). I have an AS in paramedicine. In the next few years, I’ll have earned a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Paramedicine, and an Associate’s in Nursing. I am also interested in becoming a physician assistant, which grants a master’s degree.
I am passionate about teaching and helping students, and I think after many years of being a practicing paramedic/nurse/PA, I’ll want to become an educator as my next step. I know to be a nursing instructor I would have to get an MSN with focus on nursing education. It doesn’t look like PA programs require you to have a degree in education.
I’ve been going to school for a large part of my life, but I don’t know anything about education as a professional field. If I want to be an educator or otherwise teach/instruct in a substantive role at a college or university, would a Master’s in Education make me a more viable/competitive candidate in those roles?
