You can live as a wealthy person in this world, or you can live as an ordinary person in a world where all items that a person doesn’t have on their body and that they aren’t currently using are collectively owned

A genie offers you the choice between being a wealthy person in this world or living as an ordinary person in a world where all items that someone isn’t currently wearing or using are collectively owned.

If you choose the first option you would live in a mansion, but you wouldn’t be able to travel, and would need to sleep in your mansion every night. You would be able to eat at any fancy restaurant in your city however. Also you would have a personal chef working at your mansion.

If you choose the second option then you would live in a world where there’s the same amount of overall wealth as in our world, but most of it would be collectively owned. Only things like clothes that a person is currently wearing, or a room that someone was currently sleeping in, or a meal that someone was currently eating would be owned by an individual. A bed that wasn’t currently being slept in would be collectively owned by the public even if someone regularly slept there each night, and anyone could sleep in it if they wanted to. There would be no mansions but plenty of houses would be comfortable enough to sleep in and do other living activities in. You would need to share things but technically you would have more things that you could use overall. Also this world wouldn’t have any governments as people would behave themselves because they don’t want to harm others and wouldn’t want to face vigilante justice. You would be an ordinary person because there would be no people who aren’t ordinary when it comes to wealth or status. Also there would be people who cook for the community if you don’t feel like cooking your own food. Money wouldn’t exist in this world as people would work to prevent being board and to help out with the community.

Which option would you choose?
