Your downside is that from your perspective an entire year will have passed. So basically the opposite of time dilation. Instead of thousands of years passing by on earth, the year will be passing by on your end. From earth’s perspective it’ll be like you never left. You cannot bring anything other than the food and water you’ve been equipped with.
After floating around the black hole for 1 year, you will return back to earth immediately.

Do I want to experience first-hand one of the most mysterious, intriguing, and powerful natural occurrences in our existence, with no chance of harm, at only the cost of a year?
You underestimate my fascination with space and my desire to shorten my life. Fire me into that black hole right now.
