Most new Zelda games go like this :4 dungeons revolving around the gerudos, ritos, gorons and Ganon as the final boss . It was epic the few couple times but my own personal line was drawn at years of the kingdom.
Is Nintendo afraid of making new villains , magical ancient civilisations and side characters?? I’m sure they could come up with some sort of unique new story with new characters and new magical beasts with impactful lore behind them .
Looks like I’ve touched a nerve 😭🙏I just think Zelda is in need of a new concept now and again
Yes I’ve played botw ,totk, echoes of wisdom and enjoyed them all ( I’m a Zelda fan suprise )

Hey OP welcome to 2017! There is new Zelda game coming out which changes the gameplay significantly, be sure to check it out on this new thing called the Nintendo Switch , if you don’t feel like getting that though you can still play it on your WII U
No it’s not have you even played echoes of wisdom?
What do you define as “most” and “new”. Recent titles, sure? But that would be completely ignoring all the other changes that Zelda has made recently and that would be disingenuous to your main point, that Zelda is recycled.
In recent years you got BOTW, a huge change from previous titles outside of Skyward Sword beginning the shift (which also focused on completely different species and times) A Zelda focused game which is quite different. A few Warriors games that are not at all the same. And BOTWs sequel.
Zelda isn’t recycled, it began shifting to something else and has seemingly never been more successful.
If you didn’t like TOTK, a literal sequel to BOTW, and call it recycled, you’re just upset to be upset. You were told what it was gonna be. Which was the exact same world with the exact same troubles and gameplay loop.
You’re also allowed to not like the games. That’s not a problem. But give a real criticism. Not “it’s recycled”
I adore the new games, but I admit I’m missing the dungeons and boss battles of the past. I especially got spoiled with the bosses in Twilight Princess. The last battle was epic in every sense of the word. I’ve been playing since the NES, and overall an happy with the franchise, but I do miss some of the relatively greater complexity of the older battles. And music. Gods the music was stupid good in OoT and Majora.
That is just fundamentally not true. Yes the last two games have been kinda similar but also vastly different. Have you even played any of them other than BotW or TotK? The rest of the games are nothing like those two aside from all the same races and the end boss usually being Gannon. Do you feel the same way about Bowser being in Mario games?
From the title, I hoped to have found a fellow disliker of BOTW/TOTK…
Incorrect.
Bring back Majora
Ganon needs to be a recurring villian and its a classic gameplay loop, I don’t think it needs much alteration at its core. Wouldn’t mind another Major style installment without Ganon but I don’t think it’s broken.
Still, BOTW was fun but the tone still didn’t feel like the Zelda I knew and loved.
TOTK is a glorified tech demo that kept all the BOTW annoyances while adding new and interesting ones, with a treasure hunt for “memories” to pass it off as the adventure it isn’t.
i agree. i think the games that come out about the concept are good, and i think totk is good but it literally has the same overworld map as botw, and the underworld area and sky area are either bland/repetitive, or empty and bland/repetitive, respectively.
i also think a new setting and new characters in general would be great.
I fully agree
They are not afraid of making new villains, they just don’t see a reason to. Most companies would create new characters to tell new stories, something Nintendo devs have already said, they have no interest in.
For Nintendo to create a new character or species, there has to be a gameplay reason for that.
They literally reivented the entire structure of Zelda games with BotW because the old structure had become recycled trash. Skyward Sword was not a good game.
After BotW only one game have used the new structure so your argument is not true.
