This Surrogate Sister Snapped After Her Sibling Demanded Her Chair Because She Was “The Expectant Mother” and the Entitlement is Out of Control

Surrogacy is widely considered one of the most selfless gifts a person can give. Offering to carry a child for someone struggling with fertility is a massive sacrifice that takes a heavy physical and emotional toll. You would think the parents receiving this incredible gift would treat their surrogate like absolute royalty. But one woman on Reddit recently found herself in a deeply bizarre situation when her sister decided to completely blur the lines of reality.

The Original Poster is a thirty five year old woman who stepped up to the plate in a major way for her younger sibling. Her thirty year old sister suffers from fertility issues and cannot safely carry a pregnancy to term. Seeing her sister in pain, the incredible older sibling offered to act as a surrogate for her and her husband. She is currently six and a half months along and everything medically is going perfectly fine.

But the social dynamics are a completely different story. The absolute second they found out the transfer was successful, the younger sister made a very strange decision. She decided to start living her daily life as if she were the one physically carrying the baby. At first, the Original Poster found the behavior a little odd but completely harmless. She assumed it was just an emotional coping mechanism that would stay strictly between the sister and her husband.

She was incredibly wrong. The faux pregnancy symptoms quickly escalated into full blown delusion. The sister started demanding her husband run out for late night pregnancy cravings. Then she actually started wearing full maternity clothing in her daily life. The absolute wildest part is that the sister actually gets visibly annoyed whenever the Original Poster dares to talk about her own very real pregnancy symptoms or physical cravings. The actual pregnant woman was forced to stay quiet just to protect her sister’s fantasy.

The simmering tension finally boiled over during a recent shopping trip. The sisters went out to look at baby items, and the younger sister was already in a foul mood. She got irrationally angry every single time a store employee spoke directly to the Original Poster. The older sister constantly had to play peacekeeper, gently explaining to the sales staff that her younger sibling was actually the mother of the baby.

After dragging a heavily pregnant woman through multiple stores, they finally arrived at a baby retailer to set up an official registry. By this point, the Original Poster was practically dead on her feet. Carrying a six month baby bump around a mall is no joke, and she desperately wanted to go home to rest. She communicated her exhaustion, and the younger sister promised this would be their very last stop of the day.

While they were waiting to fill out the registry paperwork, a kind salesperson noticed the exhausted pregnant woman. The employee thoughtfully brought over a chair and told her to have a seat, casually saying here is a chair for Mom. Too tired to correct the employee for the hundredth time that day, the Original Poster simply accepted the kind gesture and sat down to rest her swollen feet.

That is when the younger sister completely lost her mind. She looked at her heavily pregnant surrogate and demanded that she get up out of the chair immediately. When the Original Poster tried to remind her sister that she was physically exhausted, the younger sibling started berating her in the middle of the store. She threw a massive temper tantrum, arguing that the salesperson said the chair was for the mom, meaning the seat rightfully belonged to her.

The younger sister actually had the nerve to accuse the Original Poster of making the entire appointment about herself. She loudly declared that she was the expectant mother and she needed to sit down right that second. The Original Poster finally snapped. She firmly reminded her sister that while she will eventually be the mother, she is not actually pregnant right now and has absolutely no idea how physically exhausting growing a human being truly is.

Instead of realizing how unhinged she sounded demanding a chair from a pregnant woman, the younger sister weaponized her tears. She started crying and loudly accused her sister of shaming her fertility struggles and making fun of her in public. She refused to listen to reason and dramatically ran out of the retail store, leaving the Original Poster to face the glaring stares of horrified onlookers who only heard the very end of the argument.

To make matters worse, their own mother decided to jump into the drama and take the wrong side. The mom told the Original Poster that she should have just surrendered the chair to keep the peace. But enabling a delusion is not helping anyone. You cannot demand a physical accommodation for a medical condition you do not actually have. Wearing maternity clothes does not make your feet swell.

The internet came out swinging in defense of the surrogate. Carrying a child for someone else requires immense physical labor, and the bare minimum you can do is let the pregnant woman sit in a chair at the mall. The younger sister desperately needs therapy to process her grief instead of playing pretend at the expense of her sibling’s physical health. Would you have given up the chair to keep the peace? No, you should not have let her sit down. YOU are the one with the swollen ankles , puffy feet & sore back. Your sister is delusional & needs to see a psychiatrist. I would be insisting she has counselling before the baby is born because her behaviour is bizarre
